Phibro Anticoccidials Program
The knowledge needed to circulate. But it couldn't simply circulate.
Anticoccidials Program · 2007 to 2024
The challenge
From 2007 to 2024, Media Clorians developed Phibro Animal Health's Anticoccidials Program, a tool that turned the company's research on anticoccidial molecules into a visual reference for veterinarians, animal scientists and customers. It began on CD-ROM, moved to the web in 2017 and became an app with offline use in 2021.
The research showed where each molecule acts in the bird's body, how effectively and at which dosages, and it reached us on a floppy disk recorded by the scientist himself. The content only created value if it reached the decision-makers in the field, but it would stop being a differentiator if it circulated freely. The tool had to be accurate, easy to consult and have access controlled by Phibro.
What we did
The first version, on CD-ROM, came out in Portuguese, English and Spanish, with usernames and passwords set by Phibro. We rebuilt the illustrations of the sites of action combination by combination, for each molecule at each relevant dosage.
From impossible copying to traceable copying
On the web, fully preventing copies would be a promise impossible to keep: screenshots could be taken and pages saved. We changed the question. On top of authentication, captures began to carry the identification of the logged-in user. Leaks didn't become impossible; they became traceable.
On poultry farms, connectivity wasn't guaranteed. In the app, the health monitoring form began to work offline and sync when the device got back online, with a dedicated web service keeping the same security requirements.
Results
The program became more than a reference. The monitoring form, previously a spreadsheet, moved into the system, and the diagnostic Atlas brought images of lesions closer to decisions about molecules. Each customer could see its own operation, with headquarters and branches, and Phibro gained a consolidated view. We supported the program until 2024; today it remains in operation, run by Phibro itself.
Deliverables
- trilingual CD-ROM program with user control;
- site-of-action illustrations by molecule and dosage;
- responsive web version with user and permission management;
- identification and traceability of content access;
- digital health monitoring form and diagnostic Atlas;
- Android and iOS app with offline use and sync;
- dedicated web service for the app.
